Physician's Profile
Dr. Gilmore has practiced
Facial Plastic and Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery in Dallas,
Texas since 1986. He is board certified in Otolaryngology
Head and Neck Surgery. He has had extensive training
in Facial Plastic, Ear Nose and Throat, and Head and
Neck Surgery. He is currently the Chairman of the Department
of Otolaryngology at Presbyterian Hospital and a past
Chief of the Division of Otolaryngology at Methodist
Hospital of Dallas. He was elected as a fellow of the
American College of Surgeons in 1989, a Fellow of the
American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery
in 1987 and a fellow of the American Academy of Facial
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 1994.
Education
Dr. Gilmore received his Bachelor of Science degree
cum laude from Louisiana State University in Baton
Rouge and his Medical Doctorate degree from Southwestern
Medical School in Dallas. He completed a surgical internship
and an additional year of general surgery residency
at Parkland Hospital and Southwestern Medical School
affiliated hospitals. He subsequently completed a residency
in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at Duke University
Medical Center. Dr Gilmore has previously had an appointment
as an assistant clinical professor in the Department
of Otolaryngology at Southwestern Medical Center.
Professional Activities
Dr. John R. Gilmore
is the author of scientific publications in professional
journals and textbooks on medical conditions including
disorders of the pituitary and skull base surgery.
Dr. Gilmore is a past president of the Dallas Academy
of Otolaryngology and is currently an officer and board
member of The Texas Institute for Surgery surgical
specialty hospital and Genesis Physicians’ Group.
